Ahoy! Take a Cruise on the Dolly Steamboat!
Located just outside of Apache Junction, a glorious Canyon Lake lies nestled in the Superstition Mountains, which are in Tortilla Flat. On that lake is the Dolly Steamboat. The Dolly has been sailing the Apache Trail since 1983, but cruising the waters of Canyon Lake has been a tradition since 1925. The Dolly has many different types of cruises including the scenic nature cruise, twilight dinner cruise, astronomy cruise, and more.
Scenic Nature Cruise
On the 90-minute scenic nature cruise, passengers have the chance to see a variety of wildlife including bighorn sheep and bald eagles. Tourists also get a great view of the surrounding desert vegetation in the canyons and cliff faces of Canyon Lake. The cruise features a fully stocked snack bar with treats, soda, water, and alcoholic beverages. Be advised: the bar is cash only.
Twilight Dinner Cruise
The twilight dinner cruise is a 2.5 hour cruise, which has a dinner buffet onboard, so passengers can enjoy dinner while taking in the evening scenery of the lake. The menu on these cruises varies, but anyone can check their website for more information.
The astronomy cruise is also 2.5 hours long with a dinner buffet, and allows cruisers to experience the spectacular night sky while learning more about the infinite universe above us from astronomy expert, Dr. Sky (Steve Kates).
All of these options make this an enjoyable activity for the family, date night, or a fun afternoon with friends. Flash those pearly whites you work so hard to maintain while smiling aboard the Dolly Steamboat! The Dolly Steamboat’s schedule changes by season, so visitors should check their website for scheduled tours and plan the cruise ahead of time.
