The New Year’s holiday is a time when many people resolve to make positive changes in their lives. One of the best ways to keep resolutions is to make it official by committing to a goal, such as running in a race. The Lost Dutchman Marathon is the perfect place to strut your stuff and enjoy a beautiful day in a beautiful landscape with lots of people while you’re at it! Here’s some more info on the event.

The 15th Annual Lost Dutchman Marathon

lost dutchman marathonTaking place on Valentine’s Day, 2016 is the 15th year that the Lost Dutchman Marathon has been held on President’s Day weekend, which is actually the following day, in Apache Junction. It is a charity event run entirely by volunteers and all proceeds are directed towards local youth organizations that focus on the economically disadvantaged. A popular run among marathoners, this scenic race is a USATF certified course that can be used as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, and even if running a full 26 miles isn’t your jam, you can participate in the half-marathon, the 10k race, the 8k trail run or the 2-mile fun run.

Here’s your chance to set a goal and kill it by running at the base of Superstition Mountain near the rumored site of the Lost Dutchman Mine. Every participant receives a packet upon registering that includes the bib with a chip for timing and a Gildan “tech tee” long sleeved shirt. If you’re running the full marathon, you must pick up your packet before race day at the Health and Fitness Expo in the Multi-Generational Center, 1035 N. Idaho Rd.
